Good Sunday Morning!

I’ve been reading the blogs for sometime now, and have, on occasion, made a comment here and there.  Reading being one of my passions, I enjoy many aspects of MCS blogland.

It’s very interesting reading different opinions on varied subjects.  I get tickled at times with the camaraderie many of you share.  At other times, I become confused because I’m not a very political person in that, try as I might, I don’t always understand the working of political minds.  This doesn’t mean I don’t vote, because I do being lead by my conscience and to the best of my ability in making a decision with the hopes it is the right one.  I’m a true believer in the concept that every vote counts.

Having said the above, with this being my first post, I’ll tell you a bit more about me as I’m sure anyone reading is dying to know. Yes, I believe in cornballishness (like that word?) and humor being a common denominator.  Cool  Without it, the world would be in even more sad shape.

My father was in the Navy 23 years; then served another 17 as a police officer for the government.  Our family settled here in l952; we lived slightly north of the Clay County line, in fact in walking distance of the Naval Air Station’s north gate.  We kids went to school in Duval County, but in high school years many of our friends in Orange Park joined us.  I’m not sure why that was, whether they were given the option with the only high school back then in Green Cove.  Nonetheless, I’ve always considered myself a Clay County girl having settled here in Lake Asbury close to my younger brother and his family who have lived here for close to 30 years.  I take pride in my community.

In the past, and still now when able, I’m an advocate for those with developmental disabilities. I had a sibling who walked in those shoes; so naturally, I do what I can with my voice for those who sometimes cannot speak for themselves.

I have a daughter, two grandchildren and a 19 mo. old great granddaughter.  They are the joy of my heart, my hope for the future and a big reason for being thankful to wake up each day.  I believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Don’t hold that against me, okay?  J  I have an open mind, and as I mentioned, I enjoy knowing what’s going on in yours.  I’m not judgmental, or prejudiced in any way.

Until the next time.
