Flooding?
Do you guys have any flooding stories from last night/this morning? Where are the worst areas in Clay? A lady here at the TU (who lives in the Julington-Creek area) was caught in a flash-flood last night and had to be evacuated out of her car. I heard a forecaster call this flooding a "50-year event". Does anybody remember worse flooding?

Last night I was supposed to go to a meeting in Jacksonville. It was raining so hard that I had to pull into Biglots parking lot at Kingsley. I could not see the car in front of me. I stayed parked for 45 minutes with no let up. I just went home. The road infront of the Walgreens by the Walmart was about 15 inches deep. It sure slowed traffic. Back in about 1970 it rained so long that blackcreek rose (if I remember correctly) about 20 feet. It was a mess. I got a topagraphical map of the area when I planned to buy some property in clay county in 1972. I am 32 feet above black creek. So far over the years the people below me on the creek have been flooded about 3 times. The road was so bad that we had to park up by the country road and walk in.

JB - sorry, just had to throw in the subject title, you know journalism's "catchy title" and all. At Doctor's lake ramp last night the water was over the lower docks. Word on the street is several lower level homes in PI and EH flooded either from being very low level and/or retention ponds spilling over.

Jonathon,
I just finished watching the news at noon on ch. 4 They said that the Mandarin area got @ 16" of rain since yesterday & approx. 10" of that was just from this morning, when they got hammered. I was up when it was still dark & saw the lightning flashes but I didn't think it got that bad. Not only Mandarin but Julington Creek & Fruit Cove areas got hammered also.
