Sorry, I have been remiss in my updates!!!  The Art Guild of Orange Park, Inc. got off to a get  start with their first meeting of the season on September 4th.  We had 63 attendees and of that number 8 new members!!!  Remember if you are interested in the arts please join us the First Tuesday of each month in the Lions Club, 423 McIntosh Avenue, OP at 7pm.  We have a short business meeting first, wonderful guest speakers and the evening always closes with refreshments and conversation.  The Art Guild artists are quite busy this year with several important upcoming events and community projects.  Members Louise Cruz, Jennelle Comiskey, Sonya Cox and Lynette Woodman will be presenting an exhibit "The Trilogies" in the Village Gallery, 964 Park Avenue in Orange Park from October 11 to November 9.  The Opening Reception is planned for October 11 from 6-8. The Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-=5:30pm and Saturday 10-2pm. 264-7151.

"Art in Autumn" is the title of the upcoming Juried Exhibition to be presented by the artist members in the Orange Park Library from November 1 to 29th.  The show juror is Aimee Wiles, Artist/Photographer and owner of the Mullet Beach Gallery in St. Augustine.  The Opening Reception and Awards will take place, November 1st from 6-8pm.

Art Guild Members Beth Haizlip, Susan Morrison Sims, Leslie Lionnet, Jennelle Comiskey and Carolyn Day have volunteered to display their artwork and donate a portion of their sales to the upcoming "Artists Making Miracles" charity event planned for November 16 4-7pm and November 17 from 12-7pm in the Villas at Club Continental in the model homes.  This is to benefit "Children's Miracle Network".  Music and wine and cheese will be provided. 

"Expressions of Italy" by members Melissa Sciumbatta, Susan Morrison Sims and Carolyn Day will be presented in the Village Gallery, 924 Park Avenue, Orange Park from November 14 to January 5, 2008.  Opening reception will be Thursday, November 15 from 6-8 in the Gallery.

 The Art Guild is sponsoring a special project to highlight the upcoming 2008 150th Anniversary of Clay County.  The Art Guild is offering a prize of $150 to a County Fourth Grader who creates the best image for a coloring book to commemorate historical events in our county history. The drawings are to be in color no larger than 81/2" X 11" and may be submitted through their classroom teacher.  The entry deadline is October 15th. Entry materials have been provided to each Clay County Elementary School.

The membership of the Art Guild of Orange Park, Inc. is a non-profit organization that strives to promote the visual fine arts throughout Clay County.
