SOMETHING SMELLS IN GREEN COVE SPRINGS

 Is it the city manager? His water bills at the location where he says he resides indicate that he has never taken a shower there.This is just a jad,but true.The real reason i'am writeing is to discuss the city council meeting held 9/14/07. Wow what a meeting.It was a special meeting to set the millage rate and approve the budget for the upcoming year however it turned into a free forall between the city manager,Mr Page, and the mayor.When the questions about the much needed captial improvements was discussed,is when it turned ugly.In spite of the reports from  engineering counsutants that states we need the improvements.the city manager says otherwise.You may want to take note that the city manager has no background in engineering. whatsoever.He claims the reports were bais and untrue.These are professionals and there repuations are on the hook,why would they give a false report? Has the city manager opened the door for a law suit?Over the past 5 years the city manager has spent appox. 200,00 per year on the electric service. This is buy design. His desire is to sell the system,at no matter what the cost has placed the system in dire need of upgrades.This is not the only problem we face.We also have a grave problem with our water supply.In 2001 the city received a warning letter from DEP that we had exceeded our firm capicity to provide water to you our citizens. the city manager took no action.If we lost one pump at the harbor road site,magnolia point would be without water for an unknown period of time. Is this what we want?I think not.In spite of all the shortcomings of the city manager,he still has the full support of Mr Page and Mrs Ricks.With that being said,that leaves us with a devided council.Lucky for us we still have the other 3 to come to our rescue.I have to applaude the mayor and the other 2 for doing a good job of that. Mr Page,and Mrs Ricks is on the record ,stating their desire to sell our electric dept.They as the others have been advised by attorney's and other experts that we cannot sell.Why don't they get it?Weneed the improvments and these improvements WILL NOT increase rates if we pay off the existing debt.The city has appox. ten million in reserve and the debt is less than one if that is paied off the payment would be less for the new loan than what it is now HELLO. Mr Page ,Mrs Ricks what is it you don,t understand?
