While walking down my favorite path along the riverfront this evening around 7:15 PM, there were two gentlemen walking the perimeter of the dogtrack property facing the riverside with measuring wheels. One was maneuvering the wheel while the other took notes. Now, I admit I don't know a lot about building, surveying, etc., but whenever I see a man wheeling around one of those measuring devices in this town lately, I get nervous cause I know that something is fixin' to change! They weren't out there walking for exercise.
I know there were a lot of you out there who really believed our proponents on the town council and Mr. Korman when they emphatically stated with their poker faces that "no expansion to the OPKC would be required for the poker room", but that was yesterday - plans change in a New York minute, you know. Look how fast the legislature was able to change the needed consent for a poker room from the county to the Town of Orange Park council. And look how the fast the gambling industry has been able to change the rules on the poker room limits - the number of slots in Broward and on and on and on. But, what the heck! We've already approved a poker room - what difference would a li'l expansion make? Right?
Just hope I don't lose my walking path while the expansion goes on. That is, if there is really going to be an expansion. Maybe I'm just becoming paranoid because of the way things in this town are changing. Moosehaven buying up streets - building high rise condos? - hardcore gambling? Whew!
