Was New Orange Park Tax Source Hidden During Poker Hearings?

Does anyone have any information on the rumor that Moosehaven has bought all except one house on Orange Circle in Orange Park?

The rumor I heard was that they intend to use these houses for residents living in lodging facing River Road while they totally demolish the existing buildings. They will then build high-rise CONDOS that will be SOLD to prospective Moose members.

I'm wondering if these condos do become a reality, will they become taxable by the Town of Orange Park, or has Moosehaven found some tax loophole to keep them on a "tax-free status" even though they are sold? If they are going to be taxable, it seems that the taxes on them would more than cover any alleged "shortfall" that is expected in our budget.  Was this plan purposely kept under wraps during the poker room workshop & vote?  You remember, the tax shortfall expected due to increased exemptions is the scare tactic used by the gambling industry to turn Florida into a giant casino.  And it is the same excuse used to rush through a vote for Orange Park.  Would appreciate a reply from anyone who can confirm or dispel this rumor, or hear your thoughts on it.

What a load for a small area of our  community. It has to host a receation path, retirement housing, fitness runs, fireworks celebration, charity walks, parades, dog racing,  a rush hour traffic shortcut, a new poker room, and now high-rise condos?

This could be the next "something else" for us "vocal minorities" (as we are referred to by councilman Morgan who voted  to turn our community into a honky tonk) to sink our teeth (I mean voice) into.

Are you in the know, or what?  Thanks so much for your information. Sounds like we have more going on in our community than just a soon-to-be poker room. Thanks again.

No, I am not in the know - just know how to find the info.  That's why I post - to furnish accurate information.  Glad it helps.

Following info is from public records:

  (1) Moosehaven, Inc (a FL Non-Profit Corporation est. 9-14-1994) does currently own 5 houses on Orange Circle South and 1 on Allen Mac Court, their location on Park Avenue plus two vacant parcels located on Kingsley and McIntosh Avenues.

  (2) Tax records show they paid taxes on 4 of the houses on Orange Circle South with the other 5 parcels and personal property tax exempt.

Last weekend the first of 5 estate sales took place in first building said to be demolished and replaced.

The acquisition of these parcels has taken place over several years.  What the purpose of all this is would make good reading.  Maybe one of the reporters will investigate and write an article.
