Crime around Grove Park

I moved to the Grove Park area some 14 years ago knowing it was a safe place for my child and family members. As the area around us grows, there is an alarming increase in VIOLENT crime which includes murder, drugs, and rape. One of the major problems is the Suburban Lodge and Quality Inn which cater to the short term, low cost, and the sex offenders/felons of various areas. I hear of all types of crime and yet I do not see any action to curb this escalating problem. We have 300 sex offenders living in our area. I bet you feel safe about that. Tell Andrea's husband that it doesn't matter... I guess we simply sit back, mind our own business (passive) and allow this to happen.

My son says the area has become "ghetto" and is concerned about the prevalence of drugs/crime/vagrancy as well as the continued problems with Suburban Lodge and other motels that cater to the wrong type of individual. I guess we need to just look the other way and hope for the best. After all, there have been multiple murders and rapes in the immediate area which will NEVER HAPPEN TO MY FAMILY! Look at the vagrant population that lives behind the Target store and along Argyle Forest Blvd. Try to go down Blanding Blvd with someone with a sign saying God Bless You, Homeless and Hungry. Offer them a job not a handout!!! Thanks Jacksonville, we love having those you don't want in YOUR neighborhood!

What can be done here is have our communities come together and drive the problem away...it will need the support of law enforcement, the politicians, and you and me.

Of course, we can remain passive and let these low lifes take over the area...after all they need a place to hang out, beg, and buy drugs/alcohol! I hope you feel safe and secure in your home tonight. An aggressive dog, a gun loaded to kill, and a security system that may or may not lend the security you need at the very moment of intrusion!
