Crime in Clay County

From various postings on ClaySheerif.com......

"The Uniform Crime Reports as published for our county in 2006:

Clay County with a population of 176,901 we had an increase in crime of 9.8% over the year of 2005.

Duval County with a population of 879,235 had an increase in crime of only 0.2% over the year of 2005.

We get to hear on the news about all the crimes in Duval, but seldom hear about all the crimes that are being committed in our county. With a population of close to 880,000 people and only a 0.2% increase in crime would indicate that Sheriff Rutherford and his staff are doing an outstanding job. On the other hand, a population of only 177,000 and a 9.8% increase in crime would indicate that Sheriff Beseler is not doing an outstanding job"

"SWAT debacle in Argyle that resulted in a needless death"

Narcotics officers being allowed to use infant children in drug buys to make the transaction seem more realistic...not once but twice....an infant was carried on an undercover drug buy.

And you have to wonder about this strategically placed DUI checkpoint and it's results

June 8th DUI checkpoint:
Moving violation - 9
Non-moving violation - 29
Criminal Citations - 6
DUI - 1
Other arrest - 10
Faulty Equipment - 6
Vehicles Towed -4
