With all these names flying around and all the propaganda we hear about the candidates (and not only for president but also for House Representatives and others) sometimes we get brain washed and we do not listen to the warning signs. What exactly are we looking for and who do we really want to be governed by on the next election period? The majority of us are average people that live up to a paycheck and have a family to support. Men and women that sometimes live only with one paycheck and are swamped in debt up to their ears.That's why it is very so important to elect the right people to represent and to govern us, it is a one time shot deal that will last us for 4 long years! And, of course, this could be a disaster if these politicians are only looking up for the small groups interests. The middle class people like you and me is the one who suffers when the wrong person is elected. The people that makes the difference is us with our vote! Let's do things different this time, and let's stop listening only to the paid propaganda. Instead, why not use our experience as voters and our own judgement so we will be prepared for the elections without being taken off guard again? On these times when our economy is going through a crisis and when the faith in our goverment is fading day by day, we need to use all the common sense we have and give our honest effort to choose the right people to protect our interests and not the ones who paid for their campaigne. Look for:
- Actions on the past when they didn't follow the Equal Opportunity Employment law (gender, race, age and others). -This is a clear sign that fairness is not one of their qualities and that they are not "equal" fo everyone.
- Judgments and law suits- Especially if it is more than one and for similar reasons. If someone is not happy we need to know why! This is supposed to be public records and the time to find out about it is now, before they "fade" from the paper which usually happens right before the campaignes start.
- Character history - There is always someone that knows them personally. They can tell you how they really are before they hold that microphone on TV. Don't take just everyone's word for it. Listen to the signs! Not always a perfect husband and father will make a good politician, there are other qualities needed. Kissing babies and shaking hands in public won't solve our daily issues with the goverment.
- Prior actions to help the community- "Charity starts at home" . If this candidate never did nothing for his own community or took interest on helping on any way why do you think they would help us now? What exactly is going to change? Except for the fact that they will be paid by you and me to do the job?
- Promises, promises, promises - Check for broken promises and you will find your best candidate! Someone that brakes his promises (even to his own family) will never change. This is like an addiction! Because in order to keep a promise a person has to have good intention and moral and without these two qualities, they can not be trusted.
- Forget the looks and the charisma!- "Everything comes through your eyes" Very true! But when it is about electing the one that will fight for our interests, you can dispose of a pretty smile because when a real problem arises, no body smiles anymore!
Don't wait until the election time comes. Do your homework now! Conduct your own little investigation and instead of being brain washed again through the political propaganda, find out what they are doing now! Are they fair with their employees? Are they really equal for everyone or they have the discrimination "ghost" in their closet? Are they really there when they are needed? The time to find out is now, let's make this coming election a "smart" one and free of regrets. An election that will bring the best results for all of us.
