Take a closer look at the new My Clay Sun

    Can we talk?
I don’t mean just chit-chat, let’s have a real conversation. And we can do it with the new My Clay Sun and its companion Web site of the same name — myclaysun.com.
If you are just tuning in, My Clay Sun (the newspaper) is the latest development in an evolutionary process to better serve the readers in Clay County. Myclaysun.com (the Web site) is an adjunct of that development, bringing the best of both worlds to your front door and your computer.
We will couple the convenience and credibility of a newspaper with the power and reach of the Web, allowing us to have a conversation with each other. A real conversation.
Just imagine the possibilities! A community in conversation with itself.
My Clay Sun (the newspaper) will chronicle your thoughts and actions four days a week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) with insightful reporting, snappy photography, letters to the editor, opinions and a host of features designed to inform, entertain and possibly spur you to action.
What about the other three days of the week? That is when you can rely on myclaysun.com (the Web site) to keep you in touch with what is happening in Clay County. Of course, the Web site will operate 24/7, but it will especially come in handy on the days you don’t have My Clay Sun, the newspaper.
Myclaysun.com (the Web site) provides enormous possibilities. With its almost unlimited electronic capacity, anyone in Clay County can have their very own personal space to share with others. Go to myclaysun.com to register. You will be very glad you did.
As part of the Web site and in print, we will encourage public officials to write columns explaining to the public how our government works, or reasons behind a particular decision. We will solicit columns from experts to help you navigate through the maze of life in Clay County, from master gardeners, to traffic engineers, to environmentalists and others that we may find along the way.
One of the most exciting parts of My Clay Sun (both the newspaper and the Web site) will be in the form of a new staff member, Jonathan Bennett, who has the title of community content coordinator. Jonathan will be your liaison for all things Web-based and he will be an asset not only to us but to you as well. Be sure to read more about this important new position on this page.
Jonathan is not the only new staffer at My Clay Sun. We also have a new editor, Paul Bowker, who will introduce himself to you with his own column later. Paul is no stranger to Northeast Florida, having been on the ground floor of coverage of the Jacksonville Jaguars as deputy sports editor of the Times-Union in 1995.
You can read more about Paul, Jonathan and other staff members in biographical sketches on pages 10 and 11 in Thursday's My Clay Sun.
You may also have a conversation with any of our staff members, whose personal profiles are available on myclaysun.com.
We hope you will enjoy our new publications. If you do, let us know about it. If you don’t, well, let us know about that, too.
    Nice talking to you!
