This website has alot of reading on it but it is funny and sad. I have heard several of the officers talking about some of the same stuff on the website. I really feel sorry for the officers when things are so bad at the Sheriff's Office that they need a website to talk about all the bad stuff. When it comes time to vote again we can work hard to help the officers by getting someone else in office. I did see on the website they have some people who have already signed up to run against the Sheriff.

All those initials behind his name mean he is a computer geek emeritus. I am geeky enough without adding my credentials. I think he must use his outlook stationary signature to blog.....its fer sure he is out there!....I like reading his stuff too! He is one thing, predictable. But then after you read everyones blogs, we are all predictable. How can I soar with the eagles, when I am surrounded by turkeys!

Gobble, gobble, gobble. Islander - nothing like a little perspective. I usually enjoy opflsw, but have to agree the sheerif thing is a bit out there. Often I feel like an apologist for the county, but I swear I'm not. I'm as cynical and as skeptical as the next guy, but I will confess I think Rick Beesler is the man. I love seeing more and more cops on the road. Though it cost me 2 speeding tickets (and guess what, I'm paying more attention to my speed), more cops equals a sense of security. That gang-bang stuff in Jax needs to stay there. How he manages day to day, who he has ticked off, etc, I could care less. What matters to me is low to no crime. When it happens, crack some heads. Po dunk is quite alright with me. smunsey - you keep telling it like it is . . . at least in your mind. Submitted by Angela on Sat, 06/23/2007 - 9:47am.
Clay County, crime, and Sheriff Beseler. The Uniform Crime Reports as published for our county in 2006: Clay County with a population of 176,901 we had an increase in crime of 9.8% over the year of 2005. Duval County with a population of 879,235 had an increase in crime of only 0.2% over the year of 2005. We get to hear on the news about all the crimes in Duval, but seldom hear about all the crimes that are being committed in our county. With a population of close to 880,000 people and only a 0.2% increase in crime would indicate that Sheriff Rutherford and his staff are doing an outstanding job. On the other hand, a population of only 177,000 and a 9.8% increase in crime would indicate that Sheriff Beseler is not doing an outstanding job. Well, not according to the crime figures reported to the FDLE and those would be based off facts reported to FDLE. In 2005, after Beseler took office we had an increase in crime that has continued since he took office. That should be an additional indication that he is not doing such an outstanding job. Now when you take the officers account of the Sheriff's Office because I can say for a fact I never remember in the history of our county such discontinue. This would be to me an additional huge indication we have serious problems that needs to be addressed. I have been to the website and find it to be quite informative for the people in our county that really want to know how these officers feel about their Sheriff, his policy, his staff, and if you are concerned about your safety in the community should take some time to read it. I have some concerns about his integrity that I have posted on other blogs. Because I find that a person who campaigns on integrity then I find out he is in backroom deals with a Commissioner. Then he shows up at the BCC meeting with this big check that he was giving back one million to the citizens. Then after the budget and the big show for a political advantage works a deal to get money back, behind the citizens backs does not indicate integrity to me. Then when he releases his 2006 accomplishments says he asked for 0% in operating cost to the citizens which I know for a fact is not true makes me wonder if he has any integrity at all. But those would be my thoughts based off the facts that I am given to make that determination. I do think it is unfair to misrepresent the facts about Duval and Sheriff Rutherford. Because given the circumstances Sheriff Rutherford and his officers have to deal with, their numbers look impressive. We should give credit where credit is due. Maybe we can help these officers out when election time comes up real soon because they will be the officers that show up if you are the victim of a crime and it would be important to me that they are content with their Sheriff and their job. OPFLSW,
I find some serious flaws with your comments and accusation.
There are those of us who might consider the comments and/or replies of others trite, without merit, wrong or even stupid. We are free to comment or reply to them or not. But nowhere is there a requirement that we must read them. As has been stated on these blogs, we have the option of not reading any comments or replies. This is not a TOTALLY NEW CONCEPT! This option is open to you also, without rancor or accusation. You are certainly free to use this option to your heart's content.
As to your accusation that, "viewings are routinely shoved to the dark under belly of Mr. Thames publication," "because it does agree with his political agenda." To the best of my knowledge, the only form of censorship from Mr. Thames, or his staff, has been for writers to refrain from personal attacks. I suspect that there are legal reasons for this. I, for one, am not aware of any other criteria, with the possible exception of language, which would prohibit a blog comment or reply to appear. Perhaps you are privy to more information than I am, yet stragely, you offer no evidence whatsoever to support your accusation. Given this condition, I hope that you do not seriously expect that your accusation will be given any serious attention or respect.
I hope that you accept this reply in the spirit in which it was written.
