AS EVERYONE ELSE IN CLAY COUNTY I JUST RECIVED MY PROPERTY TAX BILL FOR 2007. THERE IS A NEW LINE ITEM ON THE BILL THAT I HAD NEVER SEEN IN THE PAST. IF YOU LOOK AT YOUR BILL, IT IS CALLED BCC-LAW ENFORCEMENT. NOW I HAD TO QUESTION THIS CHARGE, BECAUSE I LIVE IN GCS. WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR CLAY COUNTY POLICE WHEN WE IN GCS HAVE OUR OWN POLICE DEPT. I MADE A FEW PHONE CALLS AND TO MY SURPRISE I FOUND THAT THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN AND OWN PROPERTY IN GCS AND THE CITY OF ORANGE PARK ( WHO HAS THEIR OWN POLICE DEPT ) MUST PAY THIS TAX.THE CITIZENS OF GCS AND THE TOWN OF ORANGE PARK RECEIVE NO POLICE PROTECTION WHAT SO EVER FROM THE CLAY COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT., SO WHY SHOULD WE PAY.

 Is it the city manager? His water bills at the location where he says he resides indicate that he has never taken a shower there.This is just a jad,but true.The real reason i'am writeing is to discuss the city council meeting held 9/14/07. Wow what a meeting.It was a special meeting to set the millage rate and approve the budget for the upcoming year however it turned into a free forall between the city manager,Mr Page, and the mayor.When the questions about the much needed captial improvements was discussed,is when it turned ugly.In spite of the reports from  engineering counsutants that states we need the improvements.the city manager says otherwise.You may want to take note that the city manager has no background in engineering.

Should we as tax payers pay for the wear and tear on a county vehicle for the clerk of the court to travel to his vacation home in another county? Should we as tax payers pay for gym memberships for employees of the clerk of the court? I don't think we should.The county budget is already out of hand. If we trimed abuse such as this out of the budget, how much money could we save the tax payers?

During an on going investigation into the clerk of the court of clay county and Green Cove Springs city council members conduct, by a private investirgator hired and paid for by concerned citizens.  It was discovered that council member Mrs. Rick's sent and received over 4095 e-mails from her computer terminal at the clerk of the courts (Mr. Jett's office).  Of the 4095 emails over one-third was personal business, Green Cove Springs City business or politically related.  Mr. Jett was informed of these e-mails and to my knowledge failed to take any action.  How long does it take to compose, read and send over one thousand e-mails?  I can't personally answer that question, however I do know this.  All of these e-mails were composed and sent at the tax payers expense.  How do we get our money back?  Mr.

It looks like the F.D.L.E. will do what the G.C.S city council refused to do.In a recent compliant filed by a concerned citizen, an assistant general for the state found the compliant to be legally sufficient. the compliant listed charter viloations by the city mananger. I guess my next question would be,should the city manager step aside until the investigation is complete?I think he should.
