Senator Jim Demints attempt to minimize Congressional Corruption
How many of you have wondered aloud or in silence how congressmen who run for their initial office have no money but at the end of their first term they are millionaires? Further how many of you have observed after the first term the pork barrel spending that those who are senior in the congress have driven down the throats of the taxpayers? How many of you have asked yourself why do we have term limits on the President, and governors but the legislature is always appearing exempt? Senator Demint has proposed term limits for congress in a recent bill. How many of you think it will see the floor out of a committee it will be sent to for deliberation? ARE YOU TIRED OF BEING TREATED LIKE A MUSHROOM?
We all know the saying that your treated like a mushroom, kept in the dark and fed crap. That is exactly what all the spin misters are doing about AMENDMENT 4. The Current Population of Florida is somewhere near 18 million. Amendment 4 will not mess up those developer plans who already have the development approved by current Master Plans. So let us take a moment and see how much we have planned for the population to grow. Baxley, I know you will not believe this but if everything on the books that is currently approved were to be built, our population would boom to 100 million, yes sir that is the figure. That should keep you building beyond your retirement right? Related: read more | 6 comments
HEALTH CARE AND OUR LOCAL BUILDERS PAY ATTENTION BAXLEY
I do not like discrimination and I certainly do not condone the actions of Congress in placing health care legislation that discriminates against small builders. Under this new bill employers with 50 or more employees must provide health care for their workers EXCEPT BUILDERS, under the bill the builders employing 5 or more employees must provide health care. That means a typical framing crew of 2 employees and 3 illegals must provide health care to the five people. People who work in the industry like some of our bloggers are adversly affected which will drive the costs of their service up or they will have to find some loop hole in the law or operate illegally. BLOG HOGS
Recently there are some people who put the front page news on every item in the Blogs. As such when a person writes about a local issue it is blasted from the first page and buried in the old blogs without the opportunity to be commented on by the entire community that it affects. This type of blog hogging was prevelent during the election when people with opposing views wanted to make sure that their points were the only ones visable on the website. Granted some of those writing daily appear to be running for something either in 2012 or 2014 but those elections are a bit a way. Related: read more | 17 comments
CONGRESS SHOULD HAVE SAME HEALTH CARE AS ORDINARY CITIZENS
Congressman Fleming from Louisiana has attached a rider to Pelosi's bill requiring congress to enroll in the same health care program they pass. I strongly agree nothing in the Constitution says congress is royalty and must be treated as such. I am providing a link to the Congressman's site for you all to check in and vote with him on the issue. I hope millions check in and sign his petition.

Corruption within the State of Florida, is it serious???
I found an interesting article today where the Governor has had to replace 30 or more corrupt officials within the Florida Governing Bodies. I think his quote was at least 1 a month since he became Governor. Not sure what he plans to do I think the only way to start to clean up corruption is to fire all the politicians. Actually when you think of corruption and the numbers involved and then add in those who have conflicts of interest that are covered up when a complaint is filed we really have a mess on our hands. I would suggest that the election rules be changed eliminating any form of advertising a candidate other than he or she going door to door, that way the voter gets to see the body he elects. Interesting Study of Impact of Toll Roads
I know this is like pushing a rope, it is a lot easier to pull it but some people never take the easy route. The new boondoggle planned for us taxpayers to pay for the rest of our lives has caused me to look at other shenanigans by our government officials. The privatization of the Pennsylvania turn pike will cause an short fall that requires tolls to be put in place on Interstate 80. Studies by local colleges and universities note that tolls should not be required because those using interstate 80 pay sufficient fuel taxes to cover the cost of its maintenance and other upkeep. The PA turnpike also generated sufficient fuel taxes but politicians always give away the excess to their friends creating the need to sell it to private enterprise.
Who Do We Blame For the Increase In Millage Rate????
Many of us including myself have been irritated by the loss of value in our homes at the same time we experienced an INCREASE IN OUR PROPERTY TAX. HOLD ON FOLKS BEFORE YOU STORM THE PROPERTY APPRAISERS OFFICE LETS FIND OUT WHO THE VILLANS ARE FOR THE INCREASE. I will give you 3 guesses
Property appraiser you say-------Blah you got that wrong. The property appraiser only determines what the value of your home is for the tax to be determined.
County manager you say---------Blah you got that wrong.
Example of why we need to control growth/home town democracy
I have over the years more than 2000 hours of low level flying over the State of Florida. I enjoyed flying over it more in the 1979-1981 era than I do today. During that early period there were metropolitan areas surrounded by green. which is and always has been my favorite color. Last week Marsha and I went west without going through Atlanta believe it or not, we flew essentially along the coast to Fort lauderdale, and then out of Fort Lauderdale North West across Tampa and through the panhandle. As we went south along the coast less and less of my favorite color was visable. From Palm Beach South if it were not for a few parks and golf courses green would not exist. It is obvious from the air that the only consideration in the development was how do you pack more into less space. The lack of green was bothersom in Fort Lauderdale, which has suffered significant loss of value during the past 2 years. It further showed me why we are affected more by hurricanes, kind of like New Orleans where development has eliminated protection from storm surges. Related: read more | 11 comments
SEND A TEA BAG
I am attaching a link that the members of Congress and the President did not like to see. There have been numerous times we all have complained about our elected leaders. I understand from unreliable sources that the originator of this speech was invited to the White House, however that source was from the internet so who knows if it is true. We have so many boon doggles that we the taxpayer have to pay. The Belt way, infrastructure for developers, and the list goes on. So I invite you to send a Tea bag to those elected officials responsible for overlooking who they work for, OGV you may want to send Jennifer a teabag just to get her attention.
