clayviewpoint's blogThis Mornings News
Sat down this morning at the breakfast table at the usual 5:30 a.m. with my coffee, bagel and My Clay Sun and just about choked on said bagel when I saw the price tag of 52 mil on the Oakleaf High School! Is this a school or Taj-Mahal? 3 stories and by driving past the site on Brannon Field there must be atleast 75 - 100 acres there, probably more (given my old eye sight). The price tag on the New Lake Asbury Elem was like 24 mil. How much did it cost the County for that new County Courthouse? Wasn't that like 28 mil or there about? Then when I read that 71 mil was submitted for Related: read more | 6 comments
Enough already
It's bad enough that we have Sheriff Election signs next to every light pole on Blanding and everywhere else throughtout Clay County, Even spotted some in Duval County on Argyle but now I have to put up with campaign signs for Carol Studdort (sp.) at the intersection of Old Jennings and Brannon Field. Last time a checked her District 2 was over in the Orange Park area, Blairmore not on Brannon Field. We have to put up with Lisa Grahmn in the Old Jennings area.
Where are the sign Nazi's when you really need one. And another thing how about term limits for School Board members? when I lived off Kingsley eon's ago She was our school board member when my kids where in Elementary now they've just about finished college and she's still around. Time for new blood. Related: 6 comments

False Advertisement
I was visiting the "Great Automall" down towards Green Cove Springs and stopped in front of a New 2008 Ford Edge. Now on the MFG Sticker in the window the EPA for the Highway is 24 but there on the front window was a sticker Bigger then life stating 29 MPG. I scratched my head, told the wife to get in and asked her why we only get 23 MPG out of our 2007 Edge since This "Great Automall" was saying on their own accord that you will get 29 MPG's. I left the lot figuring if they put such false advertising right there in plain view I sure didn't Related: read more | 2 comments
To top it all off
Read the story this morning on Ms Fitzgerald sueing the County for reimbursement for her legal fees. Well isn't that just the top of the Ice Berg! First of all an educated person, public figure that is making laws for county citizens to follow, in my opinion wrongfully uses County personnel and resources and a host of other items pulls this "change of venue" because she claims the inability to get a fair trial in front of the people that she "supposedly" wrongfully used these resources and wins that motion. Goes to St. Johns County were her "so called peers" returned "nonguilty" verdicts and now she wants Clay County to pay her legal fees. This is nothing but a sham and a crock. She was tried in front of people whom she didn't wrong, who probably could give a crap about the accusations. She was never tried infront of her own constituents. I guess justice is sweet in that regards but as I see it the citizens of Clay County were wronged again. Related: read more | 5 comments
Sheriff Race Question
Is the Sheriff race an NPA race? Political Signs
Just wondering is Mike Taylor that hard up for votes that he has to put a "billboard" size sign up every 200 feet? Did anyone tell him that it's only legal to have 1 sign per property and they're supposed to be behind the power lines. Can't be in the right of way. He turned me off when he turned the Christmas Parade in Green Cove political by plastering his car with signs. Can't even have a Christmas Parade any more with out turning it political. The picture in the My Clay Sun last week of him sitting at the debate was priceless. Here a candidate is giving an opinion (i'm assuming from the picture) Besler is listening and paying attention to the comments and there sits Taylor binder open. Makes you wonder if he was studying for his finals or did he have a magazine in there incogneto? Hmmmmmm Related: 19 comments
Oil
I know, I know I just have to ask. This past Monday the 2nd of June oil fell 7 bucks a barrel followed by 3 or 4 bucks on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday another little gain day and then suddenly today with the unemployment figures annouced BOOM up it goes 8 bucks to new records. How is unemployment related to supply and demand? I'm thinking less demand since more people out of work. This is why in my opinion this crap is totally gauging and price manipulation.
I'm waiting because I know I'm in for the "Economy 101" lecture again. I really don't want to hear it. I want the truth out and this crap to stop lining the pockets of people doing things that the SEC said they are not supposed to be doing. Related: 2 comments
Just Curious
Has Ivy's trial's started yet and are/were they moved to St. Johns County so as not to bother the people that he screwed over? Kind of like the reinstated Comish. A little Insight Please
If your an Economy Expert just think as a normal consumer. Don't need all those theories and supply and demand stuff. On Friday driving through Middleburg I noticed the Local Racetrac felt honored to raise it's Diesel price to $4.29. I did the normal sigh and thanked god for Murphy Oil and the additional 3 cents a gallon discount. Then Saturday morning I drive by and what do I see? Yet another raise of 6 cents per gallon to 4.35! I really thanked god then because coming back to Murphy Oil it was only (thatts a funny word when talking about diesel, especially since not 15 years ago it basically was a throw away item and cheap) 4.18 minus the 3 cents so I paid an outstanding 4.15 a gallon. Then yesterday I drive through Middleburg again and suddenly to my surprise There was that big ugly Racetrac sign once again only this time in less then 24 hours it had dropped to 4.31 a 4 cent decrease. I'm thinking PRICE GOUGE big time. Regular gas never went up at that station all weekend yet diesel is bouncing like a basketball. On a Weekend when our good friends on the Commoties Market are home catching a taxi and not driving the price up the price in Florida steadily goes up. Here's another instance at the Shell station on the corner of Blanding and Madison I drove by last night at around 7 p.m. price for regular was 3.69 this morning at 6:25 a.m. it went up to 3.79 a whole dime. Did the Commotities Market have a secret meeting last night and drive the price up? Why are these stations getting by with this. Americans screwing Americans you got to love it.
