BohemianWaxwing's blogWhere's Everybody Else's Get Out of Jail Free Card?
This is an issue that really bothers me and should bother others but nobody seems to be speaking up against it. Who decided that celebrities were above the law? No matter how serious the crime, they always get away scott free and if they do get some form of punishment it's usually a piddly amount of community service hours. What is wrong with the general public that they don't see that this isn't right? Celebrities are humans just like everybody else and if they commit a crime then they deserve to do the time like everybody else. They are not better anyone or anything despite what they or anyone else might like to think just because of their fame. This is a gross display of inequality. CLAST Exam: A Waste of Time
I found out back towards the end of December that I had to take the math portion CLAST Exam in order to obtain my diploma for my AA degree. I was fine with that at first and it was just a minor inconvenience, that is, until I actually did some research on this pointless exam. Upon finding out that one has to pass this thing to graduate I became increasingly angry. There I was, happy that i was finally going to get my AA after all the garbage I had to put up with from the school. I literally felt like a door had been slammed in my face after discovering this most unpleasant news. I've done my time and gotten all my credits out of the way and that should be enough. A Terrible Waste
I look around at the constant growth that goes on around Fleming Island and I am disgusted by the things I see. Why is it deemed necessary to keep building such useless things like more shopping centers? Why? The spaces sit empty for months and when they do get bought out it's for something completely pointless like another nail salon. And along seventeen, why do they feel the need to crowd it with churches? I have nothing against religion but there has to be a line drawn somewhere when you have two baptist churches on the same side of the street not even two miles apart. Someone clearly has no idea how to space things out properly so they don't look absolutely ridiculous. Pretty soon it'll no longer be named US Highway 17 but something like Heaven's Highway. On another note, does Fleming Island really need TWO Publixes and Walgreens? The answer is a very plain no. Are people so lazy that they can't drive the scant amount of time it takes to drive to the already existing Publix and Walgreens? Or is it simply a lack of imagination on the part of those who control the spending and construction that goes on? I am getting sick of seeing things that in all honesty aren't adding to the community. They are making it stagnant and stale by adding things it already has in excess to the point where it will make people reflect upon it negatively. Sure, they've built things like a Kohls and Michaels but so what? They haven't built anything else that "innovative" or fresh in a while. Is it so wrong that they might consider building something that the community could use like a book store or even a best buy. These would draw more people in and not make them turn away shaking their heads in disappointment. |
