Cookie's blogI'm Back
Hi Truth! I made it back from Mexico in one piece. I see many new names here. That's great! Also saw where Finder has thrown his towel in the Chairman race. This is going to be an interesting election. Saw that Michael Man couldn't hang so he bailed. No big lose there. Thats just my opinion! Just wanted to let you know I'm back and hope you didn't miss me to much. ha ha Related: 6 comments
Pioneer - Parade of Memories
Pioneer, As I understand it, you are a bit of a historian when in it comes to Clay Co. history. If I am correct, are you familiar with the book Parade of Memories? If so, is it accurate? I live in a historical home in Middleburg I'm sure you'd be familiar with as would most of the regular bloggers here. My home was rumored to harbor slaves and have a tunnel from my home to Black Creek from which is only 800 feet from my second terrace. I haven't found the tunnel but it is still heavily rumored to be true. My home is also in the Middleburg Museum as being haunted. However, in the 15 years I've been there, I've only seen the previous owner twice! Remember Family of Deputy
Saturday was found to be a sad day in the lives of Law Enforcement when one of our Deputies was unfortunately killed in a motorcycle accident in Ocala. His name is Dennis Urban and was a long time servant of the county. He was on his day off when the accident occured. His motorcyle was broad sided by an elderly driver who ran a red light. I ask that no matter what you believe in religiously, just remember his grieving children, family members and friends. Related: 10 comments
Have you ever wondered?
As I look at the pictures that fellow bloggers put up, you just have to wonder if they really look like that now or 20 years ago. Or how does the picture relate to them. Like Don99977 whose picture is a hound dog. I know what he looks like and it isn't a hound dog. As well, Keytolife, I saw her recently speaking at a BCC meeting and she's looking 20 years older than her picture. Then you have those who put a mouse as they're picture. I can't figure that one out. Just making small talk. I'm not trying to put anyone down, just trying to have some fine in what would be a very boring evening. I'll put mine up when I get brave enough so that you can make fun of me. Related: 28 comments
Creepy Appraiser
I wanted to take the time to share a story to all of my fellow female blogger to beware of creepy appraisers. I had my home appraised last week by the most unprofessional appraiser I've ever come into contact with. I was alone in my home when he came as he was scheduled to do. The problem came when he decided that he was all that and a basket of cookies and began standing almost elbow to elbow with me and started making small talk. He then began to touch my arm and shoulder area when he was talking and trying to be funny. I was so upset by the scum bag that I would not accompany him on the tour of my home but instead told him to go by himself and I stayed in my kitchen. Related: read more | 17 comments
False Alarm @ Courthouse
The suspicious package that was found to be suspicious at the courthouse today thankfully turned out to be camera equipment. That's a relief. It's better to be safe in these times, then to be sorry. I hope that no one starts whinning about tax dollars being wasted as a result of the call out. Let's all be happy that it was a false alarm. Does anyone know how rally went at Annabelles?
I was wondering if anyone attended the rally at Annabelles on Saturday and if so, how did it go? Just wondering. Related: 1 comment
Treading Religious Waters
I have never gone down this path before and I may be opening myself up for a can of whoop!!! but I feel compeled to speak and maybe one of you far wiser than myself and say something to ease my mind. I was not raised in a church enviroment. My father played professional bluegrass and traveled the country with legiondary bluegrass pickers. My life was one of being around hard livin music folk. I was never exposed to religion. As an adult, I chose to explore the world of religion and found my niche in a fundamental religion. Now the problem I'm struggling with is that I have seen 3 pastors that I have sat under commit adultery and therefore, have to step down from the pulpit. I know they have committed this act because all 3 went before the church to resign and give an explanation. Related: read more | 19 comments
I'm confused
Mike, I agree that we get over emotional trying to protect our friends and loved ones. I'm sure you're the same way. If you'll fight for our country then I know you'd fight for your friends, etc. as well. I should never have said that about Angela. I don't know her. It was mean and uncalled for. I'm not proud of myself right now. I will attempt to control my emotions in the future and speak as intelligently and factual as possible. We don't have to agree. Life would be boring if we were all the same. I'll give you alittle insight on myself since you shared. I'm a Republican and very conservate. I love mashed potates, family, good conversation and a good joke when I can understand it! Angela were all wrong
Angela, I have to correct you on Ms. Goon's date of being out on SL. It was on extended Sick leave beginning on October 15. I know this as I took care of her for 6 weeks. The fact of the matter is, Ms. Goon didn't not give anyone permission to give away livestock. But it happened. She is and has stated to whom ever askes her, that she is willing to take full responsibility due to her position. I don't know why anyone of you with questions wouldn't go talk with someone that you had such problems with so that you can hear it for yourself. I guess I just handle things a bit differently than some. Related: read more | 23 comments
